Clint Wheelock

Clint Wheelock, President

Clint Wheelock is the founder and president of Pike Research. He leads all operations at the firm, including management of its analyst team as well as client interactions and consulting engagements. His personal research focuses on smart grid technologies.

Wheelock has an extensive background in market intelligence focused on emerging technologies, most recently serving as chief research officer for analyst firm ABI Research. Prior to that, he was vice president at the NPD Group and research director at In-Stat. Previous positions also include senior product management and strategic marketing roles at Qwest Communications and Verizon Communications, as well as prior experience in management consulting and private investment banking. Wheelock holds an MBA from the University of Dallas and a BA from Washington & Lee University.

Bob Gohn

Bob Gohn, Vice President, Research

Bob Gohn leads Pike Research’s research organization, including responsibility for research content management, client consulting engagements, and key industry relationships for the firm’s five key practice areas. His personal research and analysis focuses on smart meters and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), smart grid networking and communications, and home area networking (HAN).

Before joining Pike Research, Gohn was VP of Marketing for Ember Corporation, a leading provider of ZigBee technology for smart energy markets. Prior to Ember, Gohn served in a number of executive leadership, strategy development, marketing, and engineering roles in the communications and semiconductor industries, with companies including Freescale Semiconductor, Motorola, C-Port Corporation, 3Com, and Standard Microsystems Corporation. Gohn holds a BEEE from Stony Brook University and an MSEE from Polytechnic University.

Kerry-Ann Adamson

Kerry-Ann Adamson, Research Director

Kerry-Ann Adamson is a research director leading Pike Research’s Smart Energy practice, with responsibility for content management, key industry and client relationships, and consulting engagements. She has an extensive background in researching emerging technologies in the stationary power sector including fuel cells as well as combined heat and power.

Prior to joining Pike Research, Adamson was principal consultant for Fuel Cell Today and founder of FCT Consulting. She has 13 years experience in the energy sector and fuel cell industry, including in-depth knowledge of technology issues, public policy factors, and market opportunities. Adamson has authored and co-authored more than 100 papers, reports, books, and articles and has presented at numerous international conferences and workshops. Before Fuel Cell Today, Adamson worked as a research assistant at the Technische Universitat, Berlin. She holds a Ph.D. in fuel cells from Imperial College, London.

John Gartner

John Gartner, Research Director

John Gartner is a research director leading Pike Research’s Smart Transportation practice, with a concentration on business and technology issues related to the emerging market for electric vehicles. Gartner has 20 years of experience in technology writing, editing and consulting covering topics ranging from automotive technologies to supercomputing to social networks.

Prior to joining Pike Research, Gartner was co-founder and editor-in-chief of Matter Network, a web content aggregation and distribution company focused on the intersection of business and technology in the sustainability economy. His previous work experience includes editing and writing for Revenue magazine, Gregory FCA, TechTV, Wired News, the TechWeb network, CMP, Windows magazine, and NSTL. Gartner holds a bachelors degree in business from Temple University and a masters in education from Arcadia University.

Richard Martin

Richard Martin, Editorial Director

Richard Martin is editorial director for Pike Research, with responsibilities including the firm’s relationships with media organizations as well as providing content management and editorial direction for the Pike Research Blog and other publications. Martin has more than 20 years of journalism experience covering energy, technology, and international affairs.

A contributing editor for Wired, Martin is an expert on the conjunctions of technology, the energy industry, and foreign policy. His work has appeared in Time, Fortune, The Atlantic, The Asian Wall Street Journal, and many other publications, and his article “The God Particle & the Grid” (Wired, April 2004) was selected for Best Science Writing of 2004. He has held senior editorial leadership positions at ABCNews.com, the Industry Standard, and InformationWeek. His book on thorium power will be published by Macmillan Science in the spring of 2012. Martin was educated at Yale University and the University of Hong Kong.

Eric Woods

Eric Woods, Research Director

Eric Woods is a research director leading Pike Research’s Smart Industry practice including in-depth coverage of smart cities and green IT trends, as well as a focus on smart grids in Europe. He has over 17 years of experience as an analyst and consultant on new technology trends.

Before joining Pike Research, Woods was Government Practice Director at Ovum. He was responsible for directing research into government IT issues, providing advice to government and public sector clients, and supporting IT companies targeting the market. Previous to this role, he was director of Ovum’s research in the areas of information and knowledge management. Woods has worked on consultancy assignments with a wide range of clients, including public and private sector technology users and global IT players, and a wide range of small and growing technology companies. Prior to joining Ovum, Woods worked as an analyst, developer and project manager in public sector IT. Woods has a MSc in Information Systems from the University of Brighton and a Ph.D. in English Literature and MA in Critical Theory from the University of Sussex.

Peter Asmus

Peter Asmus, Senior Analyst

Peter Asmus is a senior analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Grid and Smart Energy practices, with a focus on wind energy as well as emerging energy distribution models such as microgrids and virtual power plants. Asmus has 20 years of experience in energy and environmental markets, both as a writer and a research consultant.

Before joining Pike Research, Asmus was president of Pathfinder Communications, where his activities included consulting, freelance journalism, and other writing assignments. He is the author of the recent book Introduction to Energy in California, as well as Reaping the Wind. He was also the co-author of Reinventing Electric Utilities and In Search of Environmental Excellence. Asmus was previously editor of the Clean Power Journal, assistant editor of California Policy Choices, and has written for a number of energy trade publications including Windpower Monthly and Electric Utility Week. He holds a BA in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin.

Andy Bae

Andy Bae, Senior Analyst

Andy Bae is a senior analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Grid practice, with a focus on the Asia Pacific market. Bae’s areas of concentration include smart grid and smart meters, electric vehicles, and smart buildings. His experience includes an extensive background in technology market analysis including expertise in communications technologies, electronics, software, and IT systems.

Prior to his work with Pike Research, Bae was a senior analyst at ABI Research, covering mobile wireless technologies, digital media, RFID and contactless payments, and telematics and navigation. Previous experience also includes leading-edge technology coverage at Gartner and Maravedis. Before joining the industry analyst world, Bae was director of marketing and strategy at KG Mobile Communications, responsible for the Korea and China markets, in addition to wireless communications and marketing roles at Samsung Electronics. He was also a communication systems planning and control officer in the Republic of Korea Air Force. Bae holds an MBA from the University of Toronto and a BSEE in Electronics Engineering from Kyung Hee University.

Marianne Hedin

Marianne Hedin, Senior Analyst

Marianne Hedin is a senior analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Industry and Smart Grid practices with a concentration on energy management including carbon management software and services, demand response, managed services, and data analytics.

Prior to joining Pike Research, Hedin spent more than 10 years as a market research analyst at IDC, primarily covering the worldwide IT and management consulting services market but also the service-oriented architecture (SOA) and green IT markets. While at IDC, she initiated and built several new research programs, among them IDC’s first green IT services market research. Prior to joining IDC, Hedin was a senior consultant with Clarkston Consulting, a management and technology consulting firm, providing market intelligence data and analysis to senior management at the firm as well as conducting consulting projects for clients. She has also served as a content management consultant as part of the knowledge management group at Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC). In this role, she provided strategic direction to the group and contributed to the content of the company’s website. Hedin has a Ph.D. from Tufts University with concentration in sociology.

Dave Hurst

Dave Hurst, Senior Analyst

As a senior analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Transportation practice, Dave Hurst’s primary focus is on analyzing emerging markets for electric vehicles, natural gas vehicles, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and other means of electric transportation such as scooters and motorcycles. He is an experienced transportation consultant and market researcher with 13 years of market analysis experience for automobile OEMs, suppliers, and advertisers.

Prior to joining Pike Research, Hurst had his own marketing consulting practice, Hurst Marketing Associates, in the Detroit area. Before founding this firm, he worked for several market research firms, including Morpace, Inc., Allison-Fisher International, and Kantar Research. During his tenure at these firms, he managed research accounts for vehicle teams at GM, assessed new vehicle programs at Ford, and worked on a variety of alternative fuel and hybrid research projects for OEMs and suppliers. Hurst holds a BA in Economics from Albion College and an MBA from Wayne State University.

Lisa Jerram

Lisa Jerram, Senior Analyst

Lisa Jerram is a senior analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Transportation practice with a focus on fuel cells and emerging transportation technologies. Jerram has more than 15 years experience in the alternative energy market, including an extensive background analyzing policy and regulatory issues, demand drivers, and technology factors for industry and government clients.

Prior to joining Pike Research, Jerram was a senior market analyst at Fuel Cell Today, where she authored research reports and led consulting engagements in the transportation and infrastructure sectors. She also served as technology director at the Breakthrough Technologies Institute as well as associate director at the Northeast Advanced Vehicle Consortium. Previous experience also includes positions at Fidelity Investments and the Electric Transportation Coalition. Jerram holds a BA from the University of Virginia.

Mackinnon Lawrence

Mackinnon Lawrence, Senior Analyst

Mackinnon Lawrence is a senior analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Energy practice, with a focus on advanced biofuels and bioenergy. Lawrence has extensive experience as an attorney, consultant, and writer covering topics ranging from environmental policy and international affairs to clean energy.

Prior to joining Pike Research, Lawrence was managing editor of Biomass Hub, an online resource covering emerging law and policy issues for the global bioenergy industry. He has also served as Of Counsel with Cleantech Law Partners, where he advised project developers and cleantech companies on regulatory and legislative developments impacting the biofuels and biopower industries. Prior to that, Lawrence co-founded a consulting and market research firm where he co-authored a report evaluating Camelina feedstock potential for the aviation biofuels market. He holds a JD from Washington College of Law, an MA in Global Environmental Policy from American University, and a BA in History from Amherst College. Lawrence is licensed to practice law in the state of California.

Bob Lockhart

Bob Lockhart is a senior analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Grid practice, with a focus on cyber security markets. Lockhart is a recognized information security industry leader who spent 31 years at EDS, 17 of which were in information security management.

Lockhart has extensive leadership experience in the global technology and outsourcing industry, having supported more than 200 multinational clients. His career encompasses support or manufacturing, aerospace, government, financial services, outsourcing, and healthcare industries in both the United States and Europe. Lockhart has served multiple roles including Chief Security Officer, Software Manager, Security Portfolio Executive, Solution Architect, and Data Center Manager. He holds a B.Sc. in mathematics from Loyola Marymount University.

Neil Strother

Neil Strother, Senior Analyst

Neil Strother is a senior analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Grid practice, with a focus on smart metering technologies and related business practices. Strother has an extensive background in market intelligence focused on emerging technologies.

Prior to joining Pike Research, Strother was practice director of mobile services at ABI Research. Prior to that, he was an analyst at Forrester and JupiterResearch where he focused on interactive marketing and media. Previous positions also include research director for mobile devices, content, and services for NPD Group, and principal analyst at In-Stat. Strother was also the managing editor of ZDNet AnchorDesk, and publisher of a niche publication. Strother holds an MS from Northwestern University and a BA from Whitman College.

Farouk Balouchi

Farouk Balouchi, Industry Analyst

Farouk Balouchi is an industry analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Industry practice including in-depth coverage of energy harvesting for low power electronics and its wider use in the built environment and other emerging sectors.

Before joining Pike Research, Balouchi was a technology analyst at IDTechEx, an international research company providing global analysis, strategic advice and market intelligence in key technology areas. Balouchi has worked on consultancy assignments ranging from projects that involved architects working to produce urban energy harvesting systems in the London metropolitan area to industry analysis for organizations providing specialist support to boost business returns by cutting carbon emissions, saving energy and commercialising low carbon technologies. Prior to this, he was a PhD candidate with a research focus on energy harvesting for low power electronics at the University of Hull, where he also received a first class honours MEng in electronic engineering. Aside from his doctorial work during this period, he also led consultancies working from the University’s Engineering Innovation Institute.

Bob Boggio

Bob Boggio, Industry Analyst

Bob Boggio is an industry analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Industry practice, with a focus on green consumer electronics. Boggio has 30 years of industry experience including electronics manufacturing and environmental management as an engineer and manager at IBM and Hewlett Packard.

When not conducting research and analysis for Pike Research, Boggio is president of Nanotechnology Corporation, a management consulting and contract engineering company specializing in process engineering, quality systems, recycling, waste management, and supplier quality & delivery. He also serves as Director/Secretary of the Colorado Association for Recycling. Boggio holds a BS in environmental engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

Diane Borska

Diane Borska, Industry Analyst

Diane Borska is an industry analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Grid practice, with a focus on smart metering and advanced metering infrastructure. Borska has more than 20 years of industry experience as a research analyst focused on the power industry including work in smart grid, nuclear power, and emerging energy technologies.

When not conducting research and analysis for Pike Research, Borska is president of the Borska Group, a research and analysis company specializing in capital investment decision support. Prior to forming the Borska Group, she led the Energy and Utilities Practice at Fuld & Company, a competitive intelligence research and analysis firm. Philip Drachman

Philip Drachman, Industry Analyst

Philip Drachman is an industry analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Energy and Smart Buildings practices, with a primary focus on building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) markets. Drachman is an experienced market analyst with an extensive background covering emerging technology markets including photovoltaics, printed electronics, and bioplastics.

Prior to his market analysis work, Drachman was a technical and market writer managing technical, business, market, and grant writing activities focused on biotech and other new technologies. He previously served as scientific editor for Chapman & Hall / CRC press, where he researched and archived scientific commercial information for major databases in the chemical industry. Drachman began his career as a research scientist working for Exxon Chemical. He holds a BS in materials science from the University of Mid Wales as well as an MS in organometallic chemistry from Queen’s University in Canada.

David Emmerich

He has more than 15 years of experience in marketing, product management, and engineering covering building automation, lighting controls, and fiber optic telecommunications.

Emmerich holds a Bachelor of Materials Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA with an emphasis on corporate strategy from Emory University.

Ralph Finos

Ralph Finos, Industry Analyst

Ralph Finos is an industry analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Grid and Smart Industry practices including in-depth coverage of enterprise architecture and smart grids. He has over 20 years of experience as an analyst and consultant on data centers and new technology innovations.

Dexter Gauntlett

In addition to his work with Pike Research, Gauntlett is a fellow with Green Empowerment, an international non-profit that partners with local NGOs to install renewable energy systems in rural villages in developing countries. Previously, he was a senior research and marketing associate with Clean Edge, a research and publishing firm focused on the cleantech industry. At Clean Edge, Gauntlett authored reports on cleantech jobs and economic development, in addition to providing support for research studies of clean energy trends and utility-scale solar energy. Prior to that, he was director of service learning at Green Empowerment and a senior sales associate at Green Mountain Energy. Gauntlett holds a degree in political science from the University of California Los Angeles.

Keith Kirkpatrick

Keith Kirkpatrick, Industry Analyst

Keith Kirkpatrick is an industry analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Grid practice with a focus on communication networks for smart grid applications. Kirkpatrick has extensive background in analyzing emerging technology markets including smart grid, cleantech, telecommunications, and robotics.

Prior to his work with Pike Research, Kirkpatrick was global prepaid program director for the Institute for International Research, where he handled all facets of industry conference planning, research, and execution. Tom Machinchick

Tom Machinchick, Industry Analyst

Tom Machinchick is an industry analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Buildings practice, with a focus on energy management systems for commercial buildings and industrial applications. Machinchick has a diverse background in information technology, organizational development and operations, standards compliance, early stage business consulting and financial modeling.

In addition to his work with Pike Research, Machinchick is consulting with a European firm involved in the renewable energy industry; assisting them in establishing a project footprint, and project development consulting business in the United States. Prior to that, Machinchick has consulted with early stage businesses in the renewable energy, retail, information technology, and financial markets industries, creating business plans and pro forma financial statements, as well as assisting them in the raising of capital. Previous experience includes roles at Prediction Company (a quantitative hedge fund), High Desert Currency Management, and Computer Sciences Corporation. Machinchick was also founder of a technology company that provided services to the investment management industry. Machinchick holds a BS in Information Systems from King’s College (PA) and an MBA from La Salle University.

Laurent Masson

Laurent Masson, Industry Analyst

Laurent Masson is an industry analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Transportation practice with a focus on electric vehicle charging equipment in Europe. He is an experienced journalist and has been covering the automotive industry for more than 20 years.

Prior to his work with Pike Research, Masson worked as a consultant, calculating carbon footprints and working with organizations on ways to reduce carbon emissions. In addition to his work with Pike Research, Masson is editor of Moteur Nature, an online publication he founded 10 years ago that is focused on the clean transportation industry. As part of this work, he test-drives every green car that makes it to the market as well as many prototypes.

Ski Milburn

Ski Milburn, Industry Analyst

Ski Milburn is an industry analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Energy practice with a focus on the fuel cell supply chain. He is an accomplished entrepreneur and senior executive with 35 years of international experience in the alternative energy industry including fuel cell components, clean diesel technology, solar system manufacturing, construction and development, and energy efficient architecture and engineering.

In addition to his work with Pike Research, Milburn is CEO of VAIREX, a fuel cell component company. Previous experience includes roles as CEO of American Toxxic Control Corporation, president of Milburn Stirling Corporation, and founder and vice president of Milburn-Sparn Energy Architects. Milburn earned a bachelor of architecture from the University of Colorado.

Arthur O'Donnell

Arthur O’Donnell, Industry Analyst

Arthur O’Donnell is an industry analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Energy and Smart Industry practices, with a focus on energy trading markets. He is a seasoned journalist and analyst of energy markets, and is the author of several books including ‘Soul of the Grid’ and ‘In the City of Neighborhoods.’

Prior to his work with Pike Research, O’Donnell served as the executive director of the Center for Resource Solutions, a San Francisco-based nonprofit with a global impact, administering the well-known Green-e Energy certification program. He also served as Public Interest Sector secretary for the California Independent System Operator’s stakeholder committee and was a member of the Renewable Energy Experts Committee for the international Commission for Environmental Cooperation. O’Donnell was the founding editor of the California Energy Markets newsletter from 1989 through 2002. He is a frequent speaker at energy industry conferences and legal seminars on policy and market issues. O’Donnell holds a BA from Rutgers and an MC from the University of Washington.

Don Proebstel

Don Proebstel, Industry Analyst

Don Proebstel is an industry analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Energy practice. His primary areas of focus are renewable energy technologies in the defense, military, and mining industries, innovation and invention in the renewable energy arena, and international climate change initiatives.

Prior to joining Pike Research, Proebstel was Vice President of Environmental Affairs and Sustainability for Gold Reserve Inc. Proebstel’s professional experience also includes positions as Director of Environment and Sustainable Development for Natural Power Concepts, and Director of Sustainability for Greenflight International. Proebstel serves as a director of the World Salmonid Research Institute, and the Sustainable Technology and Resource (STAR) Institute, based in Boulder Colorado. Proebstel has been a presenter of short courses covering the application of Equator Principles and IFC Performance Standards to large international developments and is an expert climate change initiatives and UNFCCC protocol. Proebstel holds a PhD in Conservation Biology from Stamford Hill University and a BS in Fishery and Wildlife Biology from Colorado State University.

Lew Rubin

Lew Rubin, Industry Analyst

Lew Rubin is an industry analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Grid practice, with a focus on grid infrastructure enhancements including substation automation and distribution automation. Rubin has more than 30 years of experience in virtually all segments of the electricity business.

In addition to his work with Pike Research, Rubin is a principal with Portal Solutions, a management and strategic consulting firm specializing in the power industry and related industry segments. Portal specializes in asset management studies, project cost-benefit analysis, capital budgeting analysis, project management, and other related issues involving strategic resource allocation and financial analysis. Prior to forming Portal in 1995, Rubin was a senior project manager at the Electric Power Research Institute and an economist at the U.S. Department of Energy. He holds a BA in economics from Lehigh University, an MA in economics from Brown University, and an MBA from Santa Clara University.

Gerry Runte

Gerry Runte, Industry Analyst

Gerry Runte is an industry analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Grid and Smart Energy practices, with a focus on distributed energy generation technologies and markets. Runte has more than 35 years of industry experience in energy and utilities including an extensive background in executive management, strategic planning, policy and regulatory matters, and technology initiatives.

In addition to his work with Pike Research, Runte is a principal with Worthington Sawtelle, a consultancy offering business planning and marketing strategy services to new and existing participants in energy markets as well as due diligence services for investors. Prior to that, he was general manager for clean energy with ARES Corporation and held several senior management roles at Gas Technology Institute with a focus on developing new businesses in the fuel cell sector. Runte previously had a career of more than 20 years at General Public Utilities Corporation, including roles in strategic planning, new business development, and rate affairs. He holds a bachelors in math and chemistry and a masters in nuclear engineering, both from Pennsylvania State University.

Eric Schoonover

 

Eric Schoonover, Industry Analyst

Eric Schoonover is an industry analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Buildings and Smart Energy practices. He has an extensive background researching emerging technology markets including significant experience covering the global telecommunications industry.

Prior to his work with Pike Research, Schoonover was a senior analyst with TeleGeography Research, where he was managing editor for a number of projects related to telecom networks including a strong focus on Asia. At TeleGeography, his responsibilities included consulting engagements with industry participants as well as the financial community. Schoonover has been widely quoted in numerous media outlets including CNN, National Public Radio, American Public Media, Wired, the Associated Press, and Canadian Broadcasting Corp. Previously, he was a research analyst at Coffey Communications. Schoonover earned BA and MA degrees from American University.

 

Britt Terry

Britt Terry, Industry Analyst

Britt Terry is an industry analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Energy practice, with a focus on advanced battery technologies for portable power applications. Terry has more than 20 years of experience in marketing, product management, and engineering within the advanced battery and data storage industries.

In addition to his work with Pike Research, Terry is a partner and consultant with Li-ion Planning, where he assists clients in a wide range of technical and business planning aspects of lithium ion battery subsystems. Prior to that, he was vice president of marketing and business development at Boundless Corporation, a supplier of advanced lithium ion battery subsystems for OEMs needing rechargeable energy storage. Previous experience includes roles at Sun Microsystems, StorageTek, Plasmon LMS, and Spectra Logic. Terry holds a BS in electrical engineering from the University of Wyoming.

Charul Vyas

Charul Vyas, Industry Analyst

Charul Vyas is an industry analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Industry practice, with a focus on energy efficiency practices in the telecommunications industry. Vyas has more than 10 years of experience as an industry analyst covering mobility, technology, financial services, and sustainability.

Previously, Vyas was an analyst in TowerGroup’s Emerging Technologies practice, where she studied the impact of new technologies on the financial services industry and adjacent markets. Vyas has also worked as an analyst and manager for a variety of market research firms, including The NPD Group, iGR Research, and IDC. In addition to her work on written reports and consulting projects, she has developed syndicated research services incorporating both qualitative and quantitative research methods and has extensive experience in primary research to assist clients with segmentation, competitive positioning, and business plan development. Vyas holds a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Colorado State University.

ChengFeng Xu

ChengFeng Xu, Industry Analyst

ChengFeng Xu is an industry analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Grid practice, with a focus on the smart grid market in China. Xu is an experienced utility engineer with an in-depth knowledge of the Chinese electricity market.

In addition to his work with Pike Research, Xu is founder of SmartGridTimes.com, the leading online source of information on the smart grid in China, as well as energy sector director for the Canada-China Technology Entrepreneurs Association. Previously, he held a position in senior supply chain management with Satcon Power Systems Canada and was an electrical engineer at the Electricity System Operation Center in China. Xu holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from North China Electric Power University and a master’s degree in engineering entrepreneurship and innovation from McMaster University.

Martha Young

Martha Young, Industry Analyst

Martha Young is an industry analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Industry practice, with an emphasis on green IT. Young has over 17 years of industry experience consulting, researching and reporting on hosted and managed services, outsourcing, and virtual business processes. She has authored three books on the business value of virtualizing processes and one on project management for IT.

In addition to her work with Pike Research, Young is principal with Nova Amber, a consultancy offering business strategy and market messaging services to participants across the full energy spectrum. She writes for Colorado Biz Magazine and PlanetProfitReport on the intersection of IT and energy. Prior to Nova Amber, Young was marketing manager for a global telecommunications company. She holds a BS in international business from the University of Colorado at Denver, and completed coursework in organizational leadership at University of Denver.

Eric Bloom

Eric Bloom, Research Analyst

Eric Bloom is a research analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Buildings practice. He has extensive experience researching, analyzing, and writing about the built environment, renewable energy, energy use, and climate change.

Prior to joining Pike Research, Bloom was a research intern at Rocky Mountain Institute, where he provided support for a forthcoming book focused on energy efficiency and renewable energy use in the building sector. He also conducted research for the Environmental Defense Fund’s annual Innovations Review, analyzing cutting-edge sustainable business practices. Bloom previously interned at Atelier Ten, a building design and energy efficiency consultancy, and the Commission for Environmental Cooperation in Montreal, an intergovernmental office that addresses environmental issues across North America. Bloom graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Architecture and Urban Studies from Yale University.

Anissa Dehamna

Anissa Dehamna, Research Analyst

Anissa Dehamna is a research analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Energy practice, with a primary focus on energy storage technology markets. Her experience includes analysis of urbanization and rural development in Europe and in developing economies.

Before joining Pike Research, Dehamna was a market analyst at Fuel Cell Today, where she conducted research and analysis focused on fuel cells, transportation, and renewable energy. At FCT, her responsibilities included report writing, content management, industry presentations, and quantitative forecast models. She previously worked as an associate in program development at Conservation International. Dehamna holds an MS in International Strategy and Economics from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and a BA in International Affairs from the George Washington University.

Brittany Gibson

Brittany Gibson, Research Analyst

Brittany Gibson is a research analyst contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Energy practice. Her research concentrates on wholesale and retail electricity markets as well as cleantech public policy and regulatory issues.

Prior to joining Pike Research, Gibson was a legislative intern at the Colorado Governor’s Energy Office, where she tracked energy related legislation, prepared office briefs and portfolios, and scheduled witnesses for committee hearings on Capitol Hill. Prior to that, she was a research intern at the Potomac Advocates in Washington, DC, where she prepared market research reports focused on the energy, aerospace, and homeland security markets. Gibson graduated magna cum laude with a BA in International Affairs from the University of Colorado.

Scott Shepard

Scott Shepard, Research Associate

Scott Shepard is a research associate contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Transportation and Smart Grid practices. In this role, he provides research and analytical support for a wide range of reports, custom research projects, and other initiatives.

Before joining Pike Research, Shepard was a research intern at the Colorado Governor’s Energy Office, where he constructed policy recommendations from surveys and interviews of industry professionals and bond project participants. In this role, he also developed an economic analysis of the electric vehicle industry in Colorado. Prior to that, he was campaign manager for a Denver City Council race and deputy outreach director for John Hickenlooper’s campaign for Governor of Colorado. Shepard holds a BA from Colorado State University and a masters of public administration from the University of Colorado at Denver.

Anne Wrobetz

 

Anne Wrobetz, Research Intern

Anne Wrobetz is a research intern contributing to Pike Research’s Smart Energy and Smart Transportation practices, supporting a variety of research projects related to emerging clean technology markets.

Wrobetz is currently a student at the University of Colorado and is a candidate for a BS in Environmental Engineering and a BS in English, with a minor in Economics. She is a member of several societies and organizations including Tau Beta Pi (engineering honors society), Society of Environmental Engineers, CU Energy, American Society of Environmental Engineers, CU Going Local, and American Water Works Association. Wrobetz graduated as valedictorian from Lakewood High School.
