Sales Executive, Europe

Pike Research is seeking an experienced sales executive to develop new business with European technology vendors, utilities, government agencies, industry associations, and the investor community. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly-motivated and talented salesperson to get in on the ground floor of a rapidly-growing new business. The primary focus will be to sell in-depth market research reports, subscription-based advisory services, and custom research and consulting engagements.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify new customers and prospects within key sectors of the cleantech industry relevant to Pike Research’s five practice areas: Smart Energy, Clean Transportation, Clean Industry, Corporate Sustainability, and Building Efficiency
  • Work with Pike Research’s industry analysts and management to develop and execute a sales plan for each of the company’s market research products
  • Pursue leads and prospects identified by the research and marketing teams
  • Close transactional sales for near-term revenue while also laying the groundwork for deeper client relationships in the future
  • Provide high-quality customer support to clients

Key competencies:

  • An established sales track record in business-to-business sales, preferably including experience selling market research services
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Solid presentation and follow-up skills
  • Proven ability to create proposals and close sales based on thoughtful analysis of customer needs and expectations
  • Technology market research / industry analyst firm sales experience from companies such as Gartner, IDC, Forrester Research, Ovum, etc. is strongly preferred

Compensation is base plus sales commission.

Geographic location is flexible, but preference will be given to candidates in the London area as Pike Research plans to open a European office there in the future.

Editing & Production Manager

Pike Research is seeking an experienced production manager to manage the editorial workflow process for research reports and other projects.

Responsibilities include project management and documentation, copy editing and formatting (both personally and in conjunction with outside contractors), and publication production activities. The production manager will work with in-house staff as well as a geographically diverse group of industry analysts who are authoring research deliverables.

Analyst, Survey Research

Pike Research is seeking an experienced analyst to design, field, analyze results, and report on quantitative surveys among consumers and business end-users. The position is an independent contractor role that is contemplated to represent approximately a 50% workload, but it could potentially evolve into a part-time or full-time job. The Analyst will prepare market research reports based on survey results, which will then be sold to our clients who include clean technology companies, government agencies, industry associations, and the investor community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the development, implementation, and utilization of consumer and business end-user survey research across all of the company’s research practices.
  • Develop quantitative research surveys based on business requirements from Pike Research’s industry analysts.
  • Manage the execution of primary research projects that support the company’s ongoing syndicated information service, as well as one-time multi-client and custom research projects for clients.
  • Work with panel providers and other vendors for purposes of planning and executing primary research projects.
Competencies:
  • Solid project management, organization, and prioritization skills, including the ability to manage numerous projects and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong quantitative analysis skills, preferably including advanced statistical analysis.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, negotiation skills.

Assignments can be anywhere from 2 hours to 2 weeks in duration, and there’s always something new.

Orientation for the position includes an introduction to the office environment, other staff members, and Pike Research’s business model, methodology and processes. Training includes in-depth, day-to-day coaching on best practices for market research data gathering and analysis. Evaluation sessions will be conducted monthly, with more informal two-way feedback discussions on an ongoing basis. The Market Research Associate will be supervised directly by the CEO (Managing Director) and will have the opportunity to work closely with other highly experienced research analysts within the company.

Hours: Up to 20 hours per week initially (flexible schedule), with the potential to grow into a full-time permanent role including medical/dental benefits
